UPDATE – High Streamflow Advisory - Kingcome River (MAINTAINED)
ISSUED: November 24, 2017 10:30 AM
The River Forecast Centre is maintaining a High Streamflow Advisory for:
River levels peaked yesterday on Kingcome River from rainfall and snowmelt earlier in the week. Flows are expected to slowly recede through Friday and Saturday. Current weather forecasts for the weekend indicate the potential for additional rainfall over the weekend. Preliminary hydrologic modelling for the Kingcome River is indicating the potential for elevated river levels on Sunday and into Monday, with the possibility of flood conditions to be reached or exceeded.
The River Forecast Centre will continue to monitor conditions and update this advisory as conditions warrant.
A High Streamflow Advisory means that river levels are rising or expected to rise rapidly, but that no major flooding is expected. Minor flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
A Flood Watch means that river levels are rising and will approach or may exceed bankfull. Flooding of areas adjacent to affected rivers may occur.
A Flood Warning means that river levels have exceeded bankfull or will exceed bankfull imminently, and that flooding of areas adjacent to the rivers affected will result.
