Ended: High Streamflow Advisory: Kingcome River and Klinaklini River
ISSUED: 3:15PM August 22, 2020
The River Forecast Centre is ending a High Streamflow Advisory for:
- The Kingcome River and surrounding areas
- The Klinaklini River and tributaries
A low-pressure system moved over coastal B.C. Thursday and Friday. The water level of the Kingcome River rose rapidly and reached 7.47m, which is slightly below the 2-year return period level. The river is now rapidly receding and expected to return to base flows over the next couple days. The Klinaklini River also rose rapidly yesterday and reached between a 5 and 10-year return period flow near midnight. The river is now receding quickly.
The public is advised to stay clear of the fast-flowing rivers and potentially unstable riverbanks during the high-streamflow period.
The River Forecast Centre continues to monitor the conditions and provides updates as conditions warrant.
