Flood Warnings and Advisories

ENDED - High Streamflow Advisory - South Coast and Vancouver Island

ISSUED: 8:30 AM November 6, 2020

The River Forecast Centre is ending a High Streamflow Advisory for:

  • South Coast including tributaries around the Sunshine Coast, Howe Sound, Squamish, North Shore Mountains, Fraser Valley and surrounding areas
  • Vancouver Island including West Vancouver Island, Central Vancouver Island, South Vancouver Island and East Vancouver Island

This week’s storm pattern has ended. Rainfall totals from Monday through Thursday ranged from 50 to 200 mm on Vancouver Island and the South Coast. The highest totals were observed on the North Shore Mountains. Rivers rose rapidly but did not reach flood levels and remained below 2-year return period flows.

River levels are receding and are below levels of concern.

The public is advised to stay clear of the fast-flowing rivers and potentially unstable riverbanks during the high-streamflow period.

The River Forecast Centre continues to monitor the conditions and provides updates as conditions warrant.
